I received fire extinguisher training as part of being the health and safety manager at my work place. The original course that I went on was not just for fire extinguisher training. It was for every aspect of health and safety management and training, from simple risk assessments to fire safety. It meant that I would be able to then go away and train others in basic health and safety. It really has been an asset and I feel like I am helping other people out a lot. I am really happy with my job as health and safety manager. It is definitely a rewarding job, even if a lot of people find the health and safety meetings tedious. I know that one day they are going to realise how important it really is. And hopefully that day will not be one when everything is going wrong! As long as they remember what I have taught them though they will be alright!
